The Anarchy of King Stephen
|County Capitol: High Sheriff Miles of Gloucester|
|Cathedral City: Richard of the Chapel|
|Population: 12,000||Territorial City, Held by King Henry|
The city of Hereford is dominated by the seats of two powerful institutions: the crown, as evinced by Hereford Castle, and the Church in the form of Saint Aethelburt’s Cathedral. It is the seat of Shire governance as well a stronghold against the Welsh. Hereford Castle holds the key approach through the Black Mountains, much as Shrewsbury is the lynchpin of the Severn some ways further north.
